Energy saving solutions brings hundreds of millions of dong to enterprises

Enterprises feel happy with the energy saving solutions, since the solutions have helped each of them save hundreds of millions of dong; much more money than they previously thought.

The Tan Binh Industrial Zone reportedly has saved 100 million dong over the last 12 months, thanks to the application of energy saving solutions. Meanwhile, a representative from the Khanh Hoi Tobacco Factory, said in 2010, “thanks to the energy saving management mechanism, the factory could save 300,000 kwh of electricity, or 300 million dong.”

The factory has installed measuring equipment to control the energy indices at the factory. It has also installed meters to measure the electricity and water volume consumed every day.

At the factory, light switches have been installed at different areas, while automatic control lamps have been used for toilets. Also, the use of natural light instead of lamps, using boilers with suitable capacity and the upgrading of pumps all have also helped the factory save thousands of kwh of electricity a year.

Duong Lan Huong, who represented Tan Binh and Tan Tao Industrial zones, remarks “the solutions to replace the lighting system and the changes in the working mode management have helped Tan Binh and Tan Tao save 95,000 kwh of electricity a year, worth 100 million dong.”

According to Huong, besides the electricity savings, the lightening system improvement has also helped reduce 40 tons of CO2 emissions.

Not only production enterprises can seek benefits from energy saving solutions, but manufacturers also feel optimistic about the rise of the energy saving equipment market. Opening the showroom introducing energy saving products and solutions in HCM City on April 15, General Director of Chip Sang Company Nguyen Quang Trung said, “the market has been heating up for the last two years. Especially, the lighting equipment, which allow to use energy effectively, including LED technology-based products, which have been selling very well.”

According to Trung, there are many different lighting technologies available on the market. It will take much more time to persuade consumers to use the technologies using renewable energy such as solar and wind energy. Meanwhile, LED technology has got ready; while its production costs are relatively low if compared with the products using renewable energies.

“Though the prices of the products are higher than normal products, I believe that the high capacity and long life expectancy will successfully persuade consumers to use energy saving products,” said Trung .

Having realized the benefits of the energy saving solutions, many enterprises are planning to develop projects on saving electricity, water and minimizing CO2 emissions.

Chief of the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) project on supporting banks to provide loans to improve the energy use efficiency, Nguyen Thuc Quen, states, “any projects which allow to save 15 percent of energy are more, which can take back investment capital within 2-3 years, would be eligible for loans.”

Quyen said, “that IFC only gives consultancy, legal support and technical basis, so that banks can make decisions whether to provide loans.” Two Vietnamese banks have joined the program; namely, Techcombank and Vietibank, while the other two banks are learning about the program. Of all the banks, Techcombank has committed to draw up an investment portfolio worth 50 million dollar within two years.

The credit amount from IFC is worth 25 million dollars, which lasts seven years with the grace period of two years. – Vietnamnet
