Encouraging Japanese businesses to invest in support industry
(VOV) – Vietnam is actively building a favourable legal environment and infrastructure to attract more investment in the support industry.
The message was delivered at a seminar on business opportunity in Vietnam held in Kawasaki, Japan on September 26 with the participation of more than 150 delegates, mainly Japanese small-and medium-sized enterprises.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Phu Binh said the growing strategic partnership between the two countries is a foundation for strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the support industry.
Kawasaki Mayor, Abe Takao said the city has established economic relations with Vietnam since 1990, especially the fields of sea transport services and tertiary education and training. It wants to help Vietnam develop the support industry, Takao added.
Pham Dang Tuat, director of the Industry Policy and Strategy Institute under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, stressed that Vietnam gives priority to developing the support industry to develop the country into an industrialised nation by 2020.
Pham Nhu So, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai provincial People’s Committee and head of the Dung Quat Industry Zone Management Board, who led a delegation to the seminar, introduced plenty of opportunity for both businesses and investment in the zone.
Yamada, Chairman of the Kawasaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry described the seminar as a success that met the expectation of Japanese businesses.
Kawasaki is a typical industrial centre in Japan. It is home to major steelworks, industrial machines manufacturers, oil refinery plants, and electronics groups, such as Toshiba, NEC, and Kawasaki Motor as well as a string of small-and medium-sized enterprises with strong financial potential, many of which are investing efficiently in Vietnam.
