Electricity price hike triggers rising prices of many products

Electricity price for production rising by 5.7% on average from December 20 will lead to price of cement up 0.39-0.56%, price of steel up 0.06%, price of clean water up 2-2.3%.

The figures provided by Nguyen Tien Thoa, the General Director of Price Management Department under Ministry of Finance when he answered the local news wire VnExpress on an online interview about the impacts of electricity price hike to the production and public life.

The electricity prices are kept unchanged at the first 0-50 Kwh for poor families, and the first 0-100 Kwh for all households, that does not affect the poor families those use electricity under 50Kwh.

For households who use 200Kwh/month will pay more VND7,400/month, those who use 300Kwh/month or 400Kwh/month will pay more VND16,300 and VND26,100 per month, respectively, Thoa said, adding that the average electricity price rise by 5% is well calculated, necessary and approved by the government.
