Eight cement plant projects expected to be finished in 2011

The statistics released by ministry of construction showed that in October, Vietnam has consumed 3.54 million tonnes of cement, sharply declining in comparison with the previous months, due to harsh weather conditions and quiet real estate markets.

In October, the total cement production output was estimated at 3.63 million tonnes, raising the accumulative production volume in the first ten months of 39.4 million tonnes, and consumption volume of 39.1 million tonnes, fulfilling 71 percent of the year plan.

In the first ten months of 2011, Vietnam has exported about 3.4 million tonnes of clinker.

As planned, there would be 10 cement plants to be put into operation with designed capacity of 9.48 million tonnes per year. Up to now, two projects have already been in operation, including Tan Quang Cement Plant in Tuyen Quang province and Quan Trieu Cement Plant in Thai Nguyen province. The rest eight projects were expected to be finished by the end of 2011.
