Economic prospects between Vietnam and Hungary

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations held a ceremony on August 20 to celebrate the National Day of Hungary.

Attending the event were Vizi Laszlo, Hungary’s ambassador to Vietnam, city leaders, and individuals who have studied and worked in Hungary.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Laszlo emphasised that the year 2010 marks the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-Hungary diplomatic ties. Despite the world’s economic crisis, there’s still a good chance of boosting trade between the two countries.

Hungary’s exports to Vietnam in 2009 set a record. In the first few months of this year, Hungary’s exports to Vietnam increased 47 percent over the same period in 2009. Many high-level meetings were held and a lot of cooperation agreements were signed.

Ambassador Laszlo noted that during a recent visit to Hungary by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, the two countries signed cooperation agreements on migration, nationality, and energy.
