E-commerce expansion by 2015
E-commerce will be widely used by Vietnamese companies for all transactions in line with their Southeast Asian competitors by 2015.
The target is one of several in the E-commerce Development Master Plan for the 2010-15 period, which has already been approved by the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of domestic enterprises.
By 2015, major corporations will have adopted e-commerce solutions to deal with their partners while small- and medium-sized businesses should have utilised e-commerce for most of their transactions.
All companies nationwide would use e-mail in their business operations.
The plan predicts that 80 per cent of major corporations and 45 per cent of SMEs will have websites which are regularly updated to advertise their operations and products.
E-commerce websites will be widely adopted according to the plan, with 70 per cent of large-scale enterprises and 30 per cent of small- and medium-sized businesses utilising e-commerce websites.
Besides encouraging enterprises to adopt e-commerce measures, the master plan sets customer-service targets and encourages businesses to adopt e-commerce solutions.
The use of card payments will also be adopted in 70 per cent of shopping centres nationwide.
By 2015, about 50 per cent of corporations supplying water, power, telecommunication services would accept e-payments.
This approved plan also underlines the country’s necessity to fulfil its international obligations to provide public services and business via online provision and non-paper based trade in the fields of tax, customs, imports and exports, investment, and business registration. — VNS
