Dung Quat refinery to get crude oil from UK, Azerbaijan’s firms

The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) has successfully negotiated with the UK’s BP and Azerbaijan’s SOCAR on the supply of crude oil to Vietnam’s Dung Quat oil refinery.

Under the plan, SOCAR will provide 65,000 cubic meters of crude oil to Dung Quat from mid-August, while BP will supply another 65,000 cubic meters in late August.

Nguyen Hoai Giang, Director General of the Binh Son Refinery and Petrochemical Co. (BSR) under PetroVietnam, said on July 26 that Dung Quat has received over 5 million tonnes of crude oil and turned out 4.2 million tonnes of refined products since the refinery’s official operations began in February 2009.

Located in the central province of Quang Ngai, Dung Quat is the first oil refinery in Vietnam that has been built with a design capacity of 6.5 million tonnes a year. - Vietnam +
