Dung Quat oil refinery to increase scale by 50pct

The scale of Dung Quat oil refinery will be increased from current 6.5 million tonnes of crude oil per year to 9.5 million tonnes per crude oil per year.

The Japanese JGC consultant has recently finalised the report phase 1 on feasible study to upgrade and expand the Dung Quat oil refinery with a scale of 9.5 million tonnes of crude oil per year, 1.5 fold increase against the current scale of 6.5 million tonnes of crude oil per year.

The final report will be completed in next three months as Vietnamese partner asked the consultant to calculate some related factors to ensure the effective expansion to attract investors for stake purchase of up to 49 percent, Nguyen Hoai Giang, Binh Son Oil Refining and Petrochemical Co’s general director, said.

In 2011, Dung Quat Oil refinery is expected to produce 4.748 million tonnes of fuel types. – Bao Dau tu
