Dung Quat oil refinery project under review
A conference was held in Hanoi on October 18 to discuss the implementation of the Dung Quat oil refinery project.
Phan Xuan Dung, Deputy head of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment delivered an investigative report on the implementation of the National Assembly’s resolution on Dung Quat oil refinery project. From 1997 to now, most of the work has been carried out, meeting 30 percent of the domestic demand for oil and gas.
This is Vietnam’s first oil refinery project which is making a breakthrough in economic development for central Quang Ngai province and providing fresh impetus for the local economy to develop steadily.
However, Mr Dung also emphasised the imprtanc eof research results, budgets estimates, preparations for investment as well as integrating important projects into the oil and gas sector’s development strategy.
Many deputies gave their opinions on the draft report on the NA’s resolution on Dung Quat oil refinery project including the clear explanation of the investment costs, the economic benefits to the country, and plans for the next two oil refinery factories named Nghi Son in northern Thanh Hoa province and Long Son in southern Ba Ria Vung Tau.-VOV
