Dong Da Festival opens in Hanoi
Thousands of visitors gathered for the Dong Da festival (Dong Da district, Hanoi) to mark the 222nd anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory on February 7.
The event commemorates the glorious feat of arms led by King Quang Trung (Nguyen Hue) against 29,000 Qing invaders in 1789.
Tran Duc Hoc, Chairman of Dong Da district, said the festival is very meaningful for remembering this history event. The victory remains forever in fighting for the nation’s building and protecting.
It also helps Vietnamese people review the nation’s history, he said.
Plays and dances re-enacting the victory were performed at the festival.
Dong Da Festival takes place annually in the 5th day of the Lunar New Year (Tet).
