Domestic wholesale sugar price falls VND1,000/kg

The prices of domestic wholesale sugar fell VND1,000/kg to between VND18,700-VND18,900 per kilo from last week, the online newspaper Saigontiepthi reported on December 1, citing local sugar firms.

The illegal imported sugar from Thailand also fell VND1,000 to VND19,000 due to the peak production season in this country.

However, the domestic retail prices of sugar haven’t been cut down as sugar trader purchased at high prices. The average retail prices of sugar currently stand at between VND22,000/kg-VND23,000/kg.

Meanwhile, domestic sugar supply is estimated to reach VND125,700 tons from now to Tet holiday, the traditional New Year festival, fully meeting the domestic demand. – Stoxplus.com
