Domestic cement prices rise VND60,000/ton

Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) raised the domestic cement prices by 60,000/ton from the beginning of February

Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) raised the domestic cement prices by 60,000/ton from the beginning of February, the online newspaper Nguoilaodong reported on February 11.

The prices of cement increased due to higher input material cost including coal, fuel, electricity and higher domestic dollar prices as well, Vicem said.

Vicem hass discussed carefully with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Government Office before raising the cement prices which has been kept unchanged since 2010 while the prices of coal, electricity and fuel has increased for 4-5 times.

The average domestic price of cement is $40/ton, much lower than other markets of between $20-30/ton.

Vicem currently owns many big cement corporations in Vietnam. Member companies comprise of Hoang Thach Cement Company, Hai Phong Cement Company, Ha Tien 2 Cement Company, Hai Van Cement Company, and Hoang Mai Cement Company,etc.

Vicem leads Vietnam cement market as dominating 40% market share.
