Domain licence fees to be reduced

Fees for licences and maintenance of domain names would reduce by between 20-55 per cent, said the Ministry of Finance.

The ministry had been preparing to ask that licence fees be cut from VND450,000 to VND350,000 for each of the second-level domain names and the third-level commercial domain names (such as com.vn, net.vn and biz.vn) and from VND450,000 to VND200,000 per each of third-level generic domain names.

The yearly maintenance fees would drop from VND600,000 to VND480,000 for each of the second-level domain names, from VND480,000 to VND350,000 per each of the third-level commercial domain names and from VND480,000 to VND200,000 per each of the third-level generic domain names.

The new rates are expected to come into effect in the fourth quarter of this year. — VNS
