Dien Bien has first rotary kiln cement plant

The northern mountainous province of Dien Bien inaugurated its first rotary-furnace cement plant on October 1 with Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong in attendance.

The 650 billion VND (36 million USD) plant, invested by the Dien Bien Cement Joint Stock Company, is designed to have a daily capacity of 1,000 tonnes. Work on the plant was kicked off in July 2007.

Once operational, the plant is expected to turn out 370,000 tonnes of cement, earning a revenue of over 450 billion VND per year.

The plant will help ease the demand for high-quality cement in north western provinces and provide materials for the construction of the Tay Trang economic complex.

In addition to the effective use of on-the-spot resources, the plant also provides jobs for around 500 labourers, with 90% of them being local people.
