Developing human resources in international integration
On August 10, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan chaired an online conference with leaders from 63 provinces, cities, centrally-run ministries and sectors to discuss a future planning for human resource development in the 2011-2015 period.
The scheme is part of the national strategy for human resource development through 2020 and lays a foundation for various ministries, sectors and localities to develop human resources in the next five years.
According to international experts, a young labour force and a golden population are considered an important condition for Vietnam to successfully draw up socio-economic development plans in the following years.
However, low productivity, poor physical strength, and a lack of discipline, cooperative spirit and professional workmanship have slowed down economic development.
Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Duc Dat underlined the need to boost economic development, international integration, and ensure social stability by developing human resources and increasing the competitive capacity of the workforce on a par with those in the region and the world.
Vietnam needs to reform education and training up to international standard, facilitate the connection between academic levels and vocational training and diversify forms of education and training to ensure all the people can gain access to academic, training or re-training opportunities on a regular and lifelong basis.
At the conference, delegates agreed upon the planning for human resource development which they said should be clearly defined in relations between schools and businesses.
