Dakne power plant put into operation in Kon Tum
The Dakne Hydro-electric Power Plant has been inaugurated after three years of construction.
The 8.1 MW plant will generate over 60 million KWh of electricity per year.
The construction of the plant started in 2007 with a total investment of over VND 230 billion (US$12 million).
This is the fifth small-sized power plant in Kon Tum province, and the first hydro-electric power plant in the Central Highlands to qualify for the Clean Development. Mechanism (CDM).
CDM is a flexibility mechanism established under the Kyoto Protocol to promote sustainable development and reduced CO2 emissions. It allows emission reduction projects in developing countries to earn certified emission reduction (CER) credits which can be traded or sold to industrialised countries to meet emission reduction targets. – Nhandan
