Construction on second phase of HCM City High-tech Park starts
HCM City High-tech Park (SHTP) officially began the second phase construction project on April 28, 2010 with total investment capital of 5.8 trillion dong. The construction works will be carried out on a total area of 613 hectares, including infrastructure and other supporting facilities in order to attract investors.
In the first phase, SHTP has total area of 300 hectares. After more than seven years in operation, the high-tech park has attracted 41 domestic and foreign investment projects with total registered capital of $1.76 billion.
Up to now, 17 enterprises are in operation in the high-tech park, gaining accumulative revenue of $1.1 billion, with annual contribution to state budge of 120 billion dong, providing jobs for over 10,000 labours.
On the same date, Intel Vietnam announced that it has completed the construction project of the first production line of its electrical semiconductor chipset factory. In October, the company plans to officially open the factory with expected production value of $120 million in 2010 and gradually increase the annual production value from $5 billion to $15 billion in the coming years.
This year, the SHTP management board targets to attract $150 million of investment capital from domestic and foreign enterprises, in comparison to that of 2009 of $36 million.
