Construction of thermal power plant begins in Thanh Hoa
Construction of Cong Thanh coal-fueled power plant kicked off on Mar. 5 at the Industrial Park No. 2, Nghi Son Economic Zone, northern central province of Thanh Hoa.
The plant has two turbine groups with a total capacity of 600MW was designed to use coal from Hon Gai and Cam Pha mines in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
The plant with an investment capital of US$619 million is expected to be put its first turbine group into operation in the first quarter of 2014 and its second one in the third quarter of the same year.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai emphasised the importance of the power plant, which is expected to supply electricity to the whole northern central region, especially Thanh Hoa, and contribute to reducing the transmission of electricity from the national grid.
He asked the investor of the project, the Cong Thanh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company to pay due attention in environmental protection, ensure the construction pace and effectiveness of the project.
He also praised residents of Hai Yen commune, Tinh Gia district for their coordination in site clearance for the project. – VOV
