Conference on tourism opens in HCMC
The tourism authorities of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar will attend an international conference on tourism investment today to discuss policies and strategies to enhance the regional tourism development in the cluster of the four countries.
Titled “Tourism Investment Conference 2011,” the conference is held at Rex Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1, as part of the International Travel Exhibition HCMC 2011 to be organized from September 14 to 17.
At project exhibition section of the meeting, the four countries’ top tourism officials will showcase their latest tourism developments such as attracting foreign investment and connecting traffic infrastructure between the four countries.
The conference will also organize a plenary session with the topic “The role of tourism infrastructure investment and transportation linkage for regional tourism”, which is moderated by Mr. Mason Florence, Director of the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office.
The plenary will be followed by presentations of the representatives of the Steering Committee of the Mekong River Delta Economic Cooperation Forum, the Asia Development Bank, and the GMS Sustainable Tourism Development Project – Viet Nam and of Mr. Vuong Binh Thanh, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People’s Committee and Mr. Pham Ngoc Minh, General Director of Vietnam Airlines.
In the afternoon session, two workshops will be conducted for experiences sharing on linking regional transportation development, investment attraction in entertainment – recreation complex, case studies on new tourism business models and tourism infrastructure investment opportunities in Vietnam Mekong Delta Provinces.
Endorsed by Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, The Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Committee, Vietnam National Association of Tourism and HCMC People’s Committee, the Tourism Investment Conference 2011 is co-organized by HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Foreign Investment Research Center of National University – Hanoi and Hai Duong Travel & Communication Co., Ltd.
