Confab examines state of online marketing

More than 200 marketing executives came together to discuss the efficiency of online marketing in Viet Nam at a conference held in HCM City yesterday.

Christopher Tran Huu Luat, director of digital advertising agency New Media Edge, said to achieve efficiency, companies should clearly identify the target of their marketing campaign and choose the right communication channels.

Truong Van Quy, director of EQ Technology and Communications Co, said since online marketing was a fairly new concept, both service providers and their clients were still unclear about it.

But it has fetched unexpectedly good results, especially for service and industrial companies, he said.

In Viet Nam, online marketing has yet to become popular despite the high internet usage rate due to the lack of online experience and technologies.

Many successful foreign campaigns were highlighted at the conference, including those of Oracle Asia and Audi Australia, by Nick Torpy, director of the Australia-based Yuranga Private Ltd Co.

There have also been a few Vietnamese success stories – like the building of the Motibee social network community and co-operation between beverage maker Pepsi and the Super Star Communication for the Pepsi-Mirinda Fun World programme to market its products through Yeah 1 Forum and television.

The Viet Nam Online Marketing Conference was organised by EQ Technology and Communications Co in collaboration with many others including Yahoo Viet Nam, Admax Network, Kingbee Media, and Nam Dong Media. — VNS
