Coffee export up 17pct in Feb

In February, Vietnam exported 90,000 tonnes of coffee, equalling to 1.5 million bags, meeting the expectation of the market.

As announced by the General Statistical Office (GSO) on February 25, Vietnam’s coffee export in January was adjusted up to 145,000 tonnes, equalling to 2.42 million bags, up 3 percent against the previously estimated figure of 140,000 tonnes.

The country’s coffee export from October 2010 till February 2011 is estimated at 8.75 million 60-kilogram bags, up 5 percent against the figure of 8.33 million bags in the previous crop.

Previously, traders forecasted the country’s coffee export in February would be about 80,000-90,000 tonnes.
