China to export nuclear power technology to Vietnam
A few years ago, China still bought nuclear power production technology from other countries, but currently it can compete with countries such as Russia, France, Japan, the US, Korea and Canada.
Currently, China wants to increase exports of nuclear power production technology to neighbouring countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Pakistan. In fact, China has built two power reactors with a capacity of 0.3 GW for Pakistan. Meanwhile, Japan has temporarily suspended all cooperation agreements to build nuclear power plants in Vietnam and Korea due to the effects of dual catastrophes of earthquakes, tsunamis on March 11.
China now has the biggest number of nuclear power plants all over the world. China is planning to increase civilian nuclear output to six times in 2020, at the same time expanding in the world market.
Tian Jashu, technical deputy director cum nuclear power director of China National Nuclear Corp (CNNC), said that after 13 years of development, by 2010, CNNC has succeeded in producing new nuclear reactors with capacity of 1GW which can meet the electricity demand for about 831,000 households in China. This reactor has an average lifespan of around 60 years.
In addition, China will develop the third generation nuclear technology of the US with France with the features on safety higher than the second one.
China plans to produce at least 70GW of nuclear power by 2020, from 10.8 GW in 2010. To achieve this goal, Beijing will have to spend about 70 billion Chinese yuan per year. – Asianews
