China approves Vietnam’s Vinh Hung thermal power plant
The Chinese National Development and Reform Commission has approved a project to build the Vinh Hung thermal power plant in Binh Thuan province in Vietnam.
The plant will be invested by the Phuong Nam Company at a cost of nearly US$1.75 billion. This is the biggest Chinese thermal power project in Vietnam, consisting of two generators with a capacity of 600,000 KW each to supply electricity to southern provinces.
The first generator is expected to begin operation in 2014.
