Chevron Joins Hands to Support Women Entrepreneurs
On 9 November, Chevron and Save the Children announced an initiative to boost the financial capabilities and earnings opportunities of women entrepreneurs in Can Tho City and Ca Mau Province, Vietnam.
Chevron is contributing US$300,000 to the Save the Children’s Women in Rural Vietnam: Respond to Market initiative, which will assist 500 women involved in home-based businesses to benefit from either financial or entrepreneurial services, helping them to manage a challenging market environment.
The initiative will primarily work to introduce new or locally-adapted livelihood practices to rural women entrepreneurs managing service businesses or those farming livestock, aquaculture, or horticulture. Saving and budgeting behaviors will be encouraged, and improved access to financial services will be offered, assisting in developing a market-driven approach among entrepreneurs, ultimately growing their businesses.
