Cement increased moderately
Vietnam Cement Association said that the cement price offered by Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation, the large producer holding 40 percent of market shares at present, has been adjusted to increase by additional 50,000 dong per tonne.
The main reason for the adjustment was because of the effects of fluctuating foreign exchange rates. At present, the cement producers have still imported raw materials for producing cement, causing direct impact on the input costs. The increasing prices of imported materials, together with power shortage resulted in the rising prices, in addition with the fact that the coal price increased from 35-60 percent, power price up 6.8 percent, and petroleum price up 9 percent.
Apart from that, the cement producers also had to face difficulty in finding coal supplies. Some cement plants have had to reduce production capacity or halt production due to coal shortage, leading to declining production output. The situation cannot be solved within short time. – TBKTVN
