Cathay Pacific launches new freight service

Cathay Pacific Airways said it will officially launch its first global freight service on July 16.

This is part of the Hong Kong-based airline’s effort to meet the increasing global demand to transport freight by air.

Initially, the service will operate twice weekly, every Friday and Sunday, from Hong Kong international airport to other airports across the world.

In Vietnam, Cathay Pacific has selected Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat international airports as their main depots for handling goods from Vietnamese businesses who export them to international markets.

However, during the test period, the service will only run from Vietnam to North America.

The airline has purchased 10 Boeing 747-8F transport aircraft for the new service.

Currently, a total of 11 foreign airlines operate in the Vietnamese market offering freight services.
