Can Tho exports 575,000 tonnes of rice

Can Tho City has exported 575,000 tonnes of rice in 2010, 18,000 tonnes more than last year.

It has earned nearly US$229 million, up US$6 million over the same period last year and accounting for 25.7 percent of the city’s total export value.

This year, the price of rice is US$8.4 per tonne lower than that of last year. In October, rice exports began booming and the export price increased but supply was limited so businesses in Can Tho did not purchase much rice.

Some businesses strived to overcome difficulties and actively found more inventory supply, pushing rice export volume up.
