Can Tho bridge with longest main span in Southeast Asia launched
The Can Tho bridge, the last one on Highway 1A – the country’s most important route, has been inaugurated today.
The cable-stayed bridge spanning the Hau river has the longest ever main span in Southeast Asia with 550 metres.
It has a total investment capital of VND 4.8 trillion including Japan’s ODA capital and Vietnam’s counterpart capital.
The bridge, 2.75 km in length, 23.1 m in width, has four motorised lanes and two rudimental vehicle lanes, linking Vinh Long and Can Tho provinces, 3.2 kilometres away from the Can Tho ferry in the downstream.
With a beautiful architecture, it has an extremely important position on Highway 1.
It will contribute to perfecting the transport infrastructure in the Mekong Delta, thus creating favourable conditions for road transport in the region, making a contribution to promoting the regional provinces’ development in an all-sided manner.
