Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association makes its debut
On September 10, the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association held its first congress. The 77-member association includes 29 individuals and 48 collectives.
The association is a non-profit and social organisation which represents legal people involved in coffee production, processing, business and the use of the geographical Buon Ma Thuot brand for coffee.
The organisation was established to protect its members’ interests, manage the production and trade of “Robusta†coffee and develop the geographical trademark of Buon Ma Thuot in the domestic and international markets.
The association will serve as a bridge between its members and other individuals and organisations and coordinate with State agencies to create a legal framework for the association’s operations.
The congress elected a 15-member executive board headed by Duong Thanh Tuong, Former Chairman of the Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee, now the Chairman of the Dak Lak Business Association.
A five member-inspection board was also elected to monitor the implementation of regulations for the Buon Ma Thuot geographical trademark and control the quality of Buon Ma Thuot Coffee.
