BlackBerry bold 9780 surfaces in Vietnam

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 has arrived in Vietnam. A local website has posted photos and videos of the new device.

The site in question, Mainguyen, is showing 12 images plus a video of the smartphone.

The device is running OS6.0, which means that it does have at least 512MB RAM. It also has a microSD memory card slot, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash on the back, fixed keyboard, the usual four dedicated control buttons, with the trackpad, and a huge battery.

The handset features microUSB jack for charging and connecting to the user’s PC. Befitting the flagship device, the fit and finish is very good, the back panel has the faux leather finish, and all the buttons and switches are black soft touch, with black gloss for the main body. The keys on the keyboard are relatively large and well-spaced; the device is operable with one hand.

It is a GSM and 3G device with Wi-Fi. There is no forward-facing camera for video calls.

The video below has a demonstration of the WebKit browser surfing the net. It also shows the boot time for the device to be significantly shorter than OS 5.0 devices like the Storm2. The reboot took about 90 seconds, compared to the greater than five minutes that most BlackBerry owners are used to.
