Billion-VND Aodai marks 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long- Hanoi
A traditional Ao dai worth VND4 billion (US$200,000) will be introduced to the public in a music and fashion show at the White Palace Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City on October 4.
The dress with nine 100 meter-long laps was made of more than 1,000 meters of traditional silk of the North, Central and South, and inlaid with gold jewelries.
Enclosed is a turban hat which was also inlaid with gold and 2,000 diamonds of 0.1 -0.5 carat by gem craftsmen of the ZELA Co – a branch of the Diamond Trading Company.
The Vietnamese traditional dress was designed and implemented by Vo Viet Chung since 2007.
The dress will be displayed in Hanoi to celebrate the capital’s 1,000th birthday and Vietnamese cultural week in the Republic of Korea from October 12 to 16.
Fashion designer Vo Viet Chung will also present his masterpiece to fashion lovers in the U.S, Brazil and Italy.
Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy will wear the dress in the performance to be broadcast live on Ho Chi Minh City Television’s HTV9 channel.
Onstage will be Miss Grand Slam Asia 2009 Huong Giang and 30 leading models together with famous singers in the country such as Thanh Lam, Phuong Thanh, Ho Quynh Huong.
Related news, two 10 meter-long Ao dai embroidered 1,000 phoenixes and 1,000 dragons for couple were presented at Van Mieu (Temple of Literature) in Hanoi on September 14.
Designer Lan Huong spent more than one year to design the couple of Vietnamese traditional dresses called “Thousand-year convergenceâ€.
She mobilized 1,000 embroiderers of Quat Dong traditional handicraft village in Hanoi to complete the dresses which were made of Van Phuc –Ha Dong silk.
They will be exhibited in the Grand Celebration of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long- Hanoi.
The three masterworks will be recognized as Vietnamese Guinness records.
