Bangladesh becomes second largest importer of Vietnam rice
Vietnam Market Analysis and Forecast Joint Stock Company (AgroMonitor) said the list of Vietnamese rice importers had many changes in July as Bangladesh climbed to the second place, only after the Philippines. In July, the South Asian nation imported 131,000 tonnes of rice worth US$41.4 million.
The Philippines was the largest importer of Vietnamese rice with 183,000 tonne valued at US$119 million in July, doubling the previous month.
Ivory Coast and Senegal held the fourth and sixth places in the month, importing 106,700 tonnes worth US$35.3 million and 53,800 tonnes valued at US$15.4 million, respectively.
Cuba and Malaysia, two traditional markets, ranked third and ninth as they imported 103,700 tonne worth US$40.6 million and 20,900 tonnes valued at US$10 million, respectively.
The Top 10 importers of Vietnamese rice include Singapore (56,400 tonnes valued at VND22 million), Iraq (31,500 tonnes, US$11.5 million), Ghana (27,000 tonnes, US$10 million) and Tanzania (17,500 tonnes, US$6.5 million).
