ASOCIO 2010: Opportunity for Vietnam’s Businesses to Seek Partners
The Vietnam Software Association (VINASA) has officially gained the right to host the 2010 Summit of the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) in Vietnam from June 17 – 20, 2010. It is considered the largest ICT event in the country,and is an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce its IT capacity as well as express its determination to build a national brand for this field.
In July 2002, VINASA presents the Vietnamese IT industry at ASOCIO. On December 12, 2008, Dr Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of VINASA, was elected as the Vice Chairman of ASOCIO. With its active effort and strong determination to expand development and cooperation with other ASOCIO members, at the ASOCIO ICT Summit held in Melbourne, Australia in late 2009, VINASA won the right to host the ASOCIO Summit in 2010.
Some 60 high-ranking managers from 21 member economies’ professional associations and businesses have confirmed their participation. During the conference, ASOCIO delegates will meet with government leaders and the Ministry of Information and Communications to discuss issues related to human resource development and will attend a seminar titled “State and business cooperation to lay the ground for IT development.†Vietnam has ordered five ASOCIO member countries like India, South Korea, Australia, Japan and Malaysia.
Vietnam will publish an Asia – Oceania overall IT human resource report at the conference. Currently, member countries are sending their reports to Vietnam. ASOCIO Vice Chairman Truong Gia Binh said such information was very precious to Vietnam as it could learn experience of countries with developed information technology.
Vietnam is at the information technology trough and it needs to “break barriers†to lead to water to flow into lower trench, Binh said.
Besides, this year Vietnam will be responsible for delivering the annual report on IT human resources to ASOCIO members and answerable for building common standards for IT human resources in the region.
Mr Pham Tan Cong, General Secretary of VINASA, said: If this is an opportunity for Vietnam to enhance its credibility and trust of the world IT circle and of foreign enterprises in Vietnam. With its hosting, Vietnam will reach bilateral agreements on IT with ASOCIO members. This is also an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to seek partners coming from Europe, America, Asia and Africa to expand its computer, software, electronic and training activities.
The Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) is a group of IT industry associations coming from 22 member economies in the Asia and Oceania region. ASOCIO now represents the interests of 22 economies, comprising India, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China), Malaysia and Singapore. Today, ASOCIO’s members account for more than 10,000 leading ICT companies in the region.
