Asia leads McDonald’s sales growth
McDonald’s reported a 7 percent increase in same-store sales for July, led by double-digit growth in its Asia/Pacific, Middle East and African regions, where sales in existing restaurants rose 10.1 percent above the levels for July 2009.
The growth was even more pronounced for its so-called APMEA unit when figures for franchised restaurants were included, as the company’s systemwide sales in the month jumped 17.5 percent over July 2009. On a constant currency basis  which excludes currency fluctuations  the systemwide growth in the APMEA regions was 11.1%.
