ASEAN Labor Ministerial Meetings Open in Vietnam May 18-25

Hundreds of regional high-ranking officials are taking part in the 21st ASEAN Labor Ministers’ Meeting (ALMM 21), the ALMM + 3 and the 2nd ASEAN Human Resources Summit in Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi from May 18-25.

During the events, participants will discuss issues related to regional human resources development, job generation, job skills development and labor market information.

They will also focus on assessments of the implementation of the ALMM action plans for the 2005-10 period, their plans for the near future and defining this year’s ALMM priority areas.

With a massive labor force of 285 million, ASEAN recognizes the importance of job creation, developing the quality of the workforce and providing social security to the workers.

The ASEAN Labor Ministers’ Meeting (ALMM) is held every two years. The historical 1st ALMM was held in April 1975 in Jakarta.
