ASEAN Aims to Remove All Non-Tariff Barriers in 2015 (
ASEAN members are trying to remove all non-tariff barriers to facilitate inner-bloc trade activities and form an ASEAN economic community in 2015, Chief SOM ASEAN-Vietnam Pham Quang Vinh noted.
Six ASEAN founding countries of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand started applying zero tariffs on almost all imports within ASEAN-6 from early this year, Vinh said.
Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar will apply tax exemption in 2015, the chief added.
The bloc with population of around 560 million reported its GDP and total trade of US$1.5 trillion and US$1.7 trillion in 2008. (Labor)
