Around VND 15 trillion to invest in basic construction of transport sector

Around VND 15 trillion will be invested and disbursed in the field of basic construction of the transport sector this year, said the Ministry of Transport.

It is expected that around 550 kilometres of roads and nearly 19 kilometres of bridges will be built, upgraded and expanded this year. The rural transport programme will continue to be deployed with around 300 communes without motorised roads to their centres receiving investments from the source of the Government’s bond capital.

Of the above-said VND 15 trillion, over VND 5.3 trillion is from the State budget for the transport development investment.

The Ministry of Transport has submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister for providing in advance VND 4 trillion more to complete the 2009 projects and start the construction of some urgent projects.

Apart from the above-mentioned sources of capital, the Ministry of Transport will speed up the capital attraction from a lot of other sources in various forms in order to mobilise capital for transport infrastructure development projects, especially for big projects.
