An Giang province develops rice farm in Laos

The Mekong Delta province of An Giang is working on a project to build a farm in its Lao twin province of Champassak.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Viet Hiep announced the project while meeting with Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavath Lengsavath in Vientiane on July 4 during his working visit to Laos between June 29 and July 8.

The project combines the production of high-quality rice, breeding of fish, and planting of fast-growing industrial trees to create high economic efficiency, Hiep said.

He expressed his wish to receive support from local authorities to make the project operational as soon as possible.

The Lao Deputy PM pledged to offer favourable conditions for An Giang province to carry out its 5,300 ha rice growing project in Suphuma district, Champassak province. –  VNA
