An Giang Lures Nearly 4.8 Million Visitors
An Giang province attracted nearly 4.8 million Vietnamese and international visitors in the first 10 months of 2009, up 15 % in volume and 20 % in revenue from a year earlier – the highest growth ever. The number of international visitor arrivals climbed 50 % year on year.
These achievements resulted from the active cooperation of An Giang with other provinces in the Mekong Delta region and Cambodia. Besides, the province also introduced new tourist services such as eco-tourism in association with origin point discoveries, religious tours and agriculture tourism.
Basa Festival in An Giang Province
An Giang has effectively invested and exploited its local potentials to develop spiritual tourism in Nui Cam Mount (Tinh Bien district), organise Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam festival in Chau Doc town, and expand original point discovery tours in Tuc Dup tourist site (Tri Ton district), My Hoa Hung tourist site – the birthplace of late President Ton Duc Thang, the second president of Vietnam (Long Xuyen city).
In 2010, An Giang will continue coordinating with other Mekong Delta provinces and Cambodian border-sharing provinces of Kandanl and Ta Keo, expanding investment for Nui Cam Tour Land project executed by Phu Lam Co., Ltd; Tra Su Mount tourist site invested in by Sao Mai Construction Corp – An Giang; Van Mai Huong tourist site invested in by Cam Loan Private Enterprise to serve more visitors. The province expects to attract 4.5 million visitors in 2010.
