Alcatel-Lucent to Deploy First End-to-end IMS Network in Vietnam

Alcatel-Lucent says that it has signed a contract with Vietnam Posts & Telecommunications Corporation Group (VNPT) and its subsidiary Vietnam Telecom National (VTN), to deliver its end-to-end IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution. This is the first IMS project to be deployed in Vietnam.

“VNPT/VTN is entering a major network transformation era. We are investing in our infrastructure – focusing especially on broadband, value-added-services in NGN and IP technology – so that we can provide the advanced services our customers demand. In this strategy, IMS is key and we believe in Alcatel-Lucent’s solution as much as we appreciate our long-term partnership with them for the last 20 years,” said Mr. Luong Manh Hoang, director of VTN.

Alain Biston, Head of Alcatel-Lucent’s activities in North and South East Asia said: “VNPT/VTN’s deployment of IMS ensures its voice and multimedia services evolution by providing a scalable and flexible IP-based platform for multi-screen delivery capability across device types and fixed and mobile access. By optimizing services delivery and providing anywhere, anytime interconnectivity, IMS will extend the reach, personalization and profitability of VNPT/VTN’s services.”

Financial and timeline details were not disclosed.
