Agricultural export value on the rise
Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports gained a year-on-year increase of 30.6 percent for the past 11 months, reaching US$22.6 billion, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
China was the largest consumer of Vietnamese farm produce, importing US$4.56 billion in value. It was followed by the US spending US$3.32 billion on the products.
Nguyen Viet Chien, director the ministry’s Information and Statistics Centre, said the positive outlook in the domestic and world markets contributed to the strong growth in export value of these products. While the export volume had a slight increase, the value saw a sharp surge.
With such an increase, the country is expected to fulfill its target of US$23 billion in farm product exports this year.
