ADB helps improve quality of arable products
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development launched a project in Hanoi on December 11 to improve the quality and safety of arable products and develop a biogas programme.
The project is set to run for six years, with a budget of nearly 110 million USD, of which 95 million USD is being provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
When addressing the launching ceremony, ADB’s representative Ahsan Tayyab said he hoped that the project would help to improve the quality of agricultural products and enhance Vietnam’s safety regime. He also suggested that Vietnamese authorities should work closer with each other in this area.
The project is expected to accelerate the growth rate of arable products such as fruit, vegetables and tea, reduce the number of food poisoning cases and increase the use of biogas technologies, which will help to raise farmers’ incomes and generate more jobs in the agricultural sector.
It will benefit local people in 16 provinces, including Da Nang, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hai Duong and HCM City.
