About 1,700 MW added into national grid in H1
Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has said that in the first six months of this year, the nation electricity system has been supplemented by 1,700 MW of electricity capacity.
Of which, EVN has put into operations six generators of five electricity source projects with a total capacity of 1,085 MW, including the second generator of Song Tranh 2 (Tranh River) hydropower (95 MW), Dong Nai 3 hydropower plant (180 MW), the second generator of Son La hydropower (400 MW) and the first generator of An Khe hydropower plant (80 MW) and expanded Uong Bi 2 thermo power plant (330 MW).
The group also finalised 56 power grid works of from 110-500 kV with a total length of 625 kilometres and the total capacity of transformers at nearly 2,450 MVA.
The nation electricity system has been added by 1,700 MW (of which, EVN provided 1,085 MW) and the operation of new hydropower plants is relatively stable.
According to EVN’s report in the first six months of this year, thanks to more favorable weather conditions, water in hydro reservoirs was estimated at about 31.405 billion cubic meters, higher than the initial estimate of 15.346 billion cubic meters, equivalent to 4.75 billion kWh.
Meanwhile, power demand increased slower than the plan in early this year. In fact, the power demand in the first six dry-season months of this year increased by 10.31 percent while the increase forecast was 18.3 percent.
As estimated in July, the load of the system would reach 314.5 million kWh per day, the maximum capacity would range around 16,000-16,500 MW. EVN will continue to maximise hydropower plants, coal-fuelled thermo power plants and import electricity to ensure the power supply.
