35 tourism projects in the hot seat
Thirty-five hotel and tourism investment projects in the central province of Thanh Hoa were punished yesterday, January 14, by Thanh Hoa People’s Committee for improper use of land.
Vice chairman of Thanh Hoa People’s Committee Trinh Van Chien has decided to withdraw land from five projects, located in the seaside tourist town of Sam Son, and terminate two others for ineffective land use and illegal transferring. The remaining projects were asked to speed up their progress and prove their financial capacity by the end of this month.
Two projects that had their investment licences revoked included hotel and tourism developments under the Viet Nam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation and Lam Son Sugar Company, occupying 8,350sq.m and 3,410sq.m, respectively, in Truong Son Ward.
Chien said that the province would provide the land to other projects via an auction for their land-use right.
Slow paced projects will have to commit themselves to speeding up their work, and provide new deadlines. Those projects that have not finished the administrative process will have to provide land use and construction plans by the end of this month.
The province would withdraw land for those that failed to meet the new deadline, said Chien.
