The 2010 Southern Fruit Festival began at the Suoi Tien Cultural Tourist Park in Ho Chi Minh City on June 1.
Fifteen cities and provinces are taking part in the event with over 70 domestic stalls and 7 from overseas.
The festival introduces 45 varieties of tropical fruit grown across the country, such as Cho Gao dragon fruit, Long Co Co grapefruit and Lai Thieu jack-fruit.
A series of activities are underway, including a three-month floating market, an artistic fruit-carving contest and a farmer competition for the most delicious and hygienic fruits.
The festival is expected to receive over 1 million domestic and foreign visitors and more than 1,000 tonnes of fruit will be consumed.
