$13.6m deal signed for supervising maintenance of Dung Quat oil refinery

Binh Son Petrochemical Co on April 28 signed a $13.6 million deal with South Korea’s SK contractor on managing and supervising the first overall maintenance plan in Dung Quat oil refinery, Quang Ngai province, the VnExpress reported.
Accordingly, SK was appointed to take responsibility for managing, watching maintenance contractors including Jcon, Dong-Il, Ubec, Deachang (South Korea) and some domestic ones. Also, SK will support team of experts, and supply specialized components and equipments with an aim to ensure the progress of first overseas maintenance in Dung Quat Refinery from the middle of July to September.

By the end of March, Binh Son Petrochemical Co running Dung Quat refinery inked the first overall maintenance agreement with the above team of contractors with a total value of $25 million. The sum of money was deducted from the company’s production and business revenues.

From late February 2009 when Dung Quat refinery produced the first product to  March 2011, the factory had to suspend operation for three times because of some problems such as broken equipment, power cut and active delay for coming maintenance.

In line with the contract signed with Technip contractor group, the factory has to be checked generally after two years from generating the first product to examine status of each workshop and then undertake suitable replacement.

By May early, foreign experts will come to Vietnam to start primary survey for the overall maintenance in Dung Quat refinery. About total 2,000 experts, engineers, workers domestically and internationally will join the action.
