12 hydropower plants in Lao Cai province to start operations in 2011
12 hydropower plants with a total installed capacity of 234.3 MW in the northern province of Lao Cai are expected to start operations within this year, according to the report from Lao Cai Department of Industry and Trade.
Accordingly, these plants will be Bac Ha (90 MW), Ngoi Phat (72 MW), Su Pan 2 (34.5 MW), Seo Choong Ho (21.7 MW), Sung Vui (18MW), Nam Khanh (12 MW), Nam Pung (9.3 MW), Trung Ho (8.4 MW), Ngoi Duong 1 (6.5 MW ), Suoi Chut 2 (5 MW), Lao Chai (2.4 MW), Suoi Chut 1 (1.2 MW).
Lao Cai now has 16 hydropower projects with total installed capacity of 114.5 MW, worth about 2.4 trillion dong in operational. However, power generation capacity during the rainy season is from only 70-75 percent of the installed capacity and it is only 15-20 percent compared to capacity in the dry season. – Vietbiz24
