Sep 21: Vietnam stocks close mixed as selling lingers

Vietnamese stocks closed mixed today as investors continued to sell blue chips on HOSE but selectively picked up shares on HNX.

The benchmark VN Index lost 6.8 points, or 1.49%, to end at 447.57. Volume fell 4.8% to 43.95 million shares worth VND818.9 billion including 6.7 million shares worth VND279.18 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.

VN Index opened in the red with nearly 1 million shares traded. The trading slowed down on caution, the benchmark went further to the south as market progressed before paring some loss in the last 15 minutes of ATC session.

The market breath today was broadly negative, among 301 shares listed firms on HOSE, losers outweighed gainers by 134-81 and 75 stocks unchanged. As many as 43 stocks fell to the floor while 15 issues hit the ceiling, 5% each side.

Among10 market caps, 3 gained and 2 unchanged and 5 lost.

Sacom Development and Investment Corporation (SAM) was the most active stock with 2.2 million shares traded, closing up 4.3% to VND7,300

Becamex Infrastructure Development JSC. (IJC) was in the second place with 2.2 million shares traded, closing up 4.6% to VND11,300.

Sacombank (STB) ranked third with 1.8 million shares traded, up 0.7% % to VND14,200.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) followed in the list with 1.5 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND20,200.

Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) was in the last in the top 5 active list with 1.3 million shares traded, closing down 0.8% to VND11,900.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 0.22 point or 0.3% to close at 74.6. Trading volume rose 1.6% to 43 million shares traded for VND475 billion of which 4.1 million shares worth VND47.1 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.

Market breadth was negative with 97 gainers, 153 losers and 65 flat issues and 76 untraded. Among top 10 market cap stocks 2 gained, 4 fell and 4 unchanged.

Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) was the most active stock with 4.4 million shares traded, closing unchanged at VND12,400 on average.

VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was in the second place with 3.6 million shares traded, closing down 0.8% to VND12,500 on average.

Thai Hoa Viet Nam Group JSC (THV) ranked third in the list with 2.7 million shares traded, closing up 6.2% to VND6,900 on average. – Stoxplus.com
