Wintek kicks-off its touch screen plant in Vietnam

On December 12, Taiwan’s Wintek Corporation will sign a land leasing contract with the Saigon Bac Giang Industrial Zone Joint Stock Company to lease 60 hectares for its $150 million plant in the Quang Chau Industrial Zone.

Wintek’s plant, its first in Vietnam, will manufacture touch screen and be put into operation within 2011 to manufacture touch screen for high-end products of Iphone and Ipad.

Wintek was established in April 1990, to manufacture LCD, LCM, touch panel, cover glass and others. Wintek is a high-tech developer and is one of the only two manufacturers in the world so far to make touch screen for Ipad product.

The Saigon Bac Giang Industrial Zone Joint Stock company is an affiliate of the Kinh Bac Urban Development Company. Quang Chau Industrial Zone locates nearby 1A National Highway and Cau River, in northern Bac Giang province, about an hour drive from Hanoi.

The zone has an area of 600ha, of this 400ha is reserved for industrial activities and the rest of 200ha for residents and services.

Opened in 2006 the zone so far attracted dozen of Japanese and Taiwan investors, especially in high-tech fields such as Sanyo, Nochirin, Tawang, Universal Mocroelectricand the Vietnam-Singapore joint venture.

This is one of the largest zone in the northern Vietnam with modern design of manufacturing area, urban areas, entertainment and recreational services. – VIR
