VOS witnesses sharp decline in Q4 profit


The southern bourse-listed Vietnam Ocean Shipping Joint Stock Co (coded VOS) announced that although the company posted Q4 profit of 22.6 billion dong, down 80 percent against the same period of 2009, the accumulative profit still surpassed 49 percent of targeted year plan to 119.5 billion dong.



In details, in the last three months of 2010, the company’s net profit surged significantly. However, due to high principal sales cost of 654.6 billion dong, the combined profit dropped by over 38 percent year-on-year.



Noticeably, the company’s financial activities brought in loss of 30.8 billion dong, plus increasing trend in operation costs, resulting in sharp decline in net profit to 8.7 billion dong, and after tax profit down 80 percent to 22.6 billion dong.



Accumulatively, the company posted gaining total revenue of 2.721 trillion dong, fulfilling 112.5 percent of the year plan; after tax profit of 119.5 billion dong, surpassing the year plan by 49 percent, equivalent to EPS of 835 dong per share.
